# How to Make It:
01 - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
02 - Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture, blending thoroughly.
03 - Gradually add the flour and salt, stirring just until the dough forms.
04 - Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in cling film, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
06 - On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to approximately 1/5 inch thickness.
07 - Using heart and star cookie cutters, cut out shapes and make a small hole near the top of each for ribbons.
08 - Arrange shapes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
09 - Transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool completely.
10 - Combine powdered sugar with lemon juice or water until smooth and spreadable, adding optional food coloring.
11 - Spread icing onto cooled cookies and allow it to set fully.
