01 - In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
02 - Fold in shredded cheddar cheese and green onions. Using your hands, gently form the mixture into 4 or 5 equal-sized patties, pressing to compact.
03 - Heat unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, add tuna patties and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp.
04 - Serve patties hot on toasted bread, English muffins, or alongside a fresh salad. For an extra cheesy finish, add additional cheese and place under the broiler for 1 minute until melted.
